Using Linux for Government

I like this:
“Essentially ANY military function is a security issue. For a person with any level of IT expertise to put such functions on Windows platforms is, IMHO, either a level of incompetence suitable for dishonorable discharge or of malice meeting the definition of treason.”

Junk mail is funny. Both on the computer and in real life.

I get lots of junk mail. 1000’s per week in my email, and 100’s a month in my mail box. Most of it doesn’t even make any sense.

Junk mail in my mail box is even funnies. I get my junk mail, my mom’s junk mail, my dad’s junk mail, my brother and sister’s junk mail, some guy that was married to my aunt for like a month’s junk mail, and some guy named Current Resident.

I don’t know know why I’m getting other peoples mail that don’t even live here. I guess those credit card companies are really hurting for money right now. They will send mail to anyone and everyone and any address they can parse.

Stupid banks.

I signed up for a service to stop junk mail coming to me. So pretty much, I personally don’t get any junk mail in my name. It’s all to other people and family.

I would add the URL to the service that I used, but I can’t remember what it is. It’s been a year. All well.

Injector Pump

Posted on November 4th, 2008 | No Comments »

So I drug the WZ up to Fordyce, unloaded, drove in about half a mile, and found fuel pouring out of my injector pump. Gesh.
So I have some new o-rings and gaskets on their way for an injector pump rebuild.

Every Year - Water Pipe Issues

Posted on October 15th, 2008 | No Comments »

Yep, every year we have a water pipe issue. This year is no different.
So I turned the water off, dug the hole, replace the pipe, turned the water back on, still leaks, turn water off, capped the stinking thing and turned the water back on.
I’ll fix it later…. Friday/Sunday maybe.

Found it!

Found the problem with my Wicked Zuk. The oil cooler had a leak and is pumping oil into the water system. Gesh. New oil cooler is on it’s way and I’m going wheeling next weekend! woohooo!

So dad and I took the WZ out wheeling yesterday. We didn’t to a lot, just drop to the top of the mountain and back. About half way the water blew out the overflow, but I brought extra water because I knew it would happen. I think the problem is pressure and not heat. The hoses were not hot, and the temp gauge was not showing hot. I think that because there is something wrong in the block somewhere, it’s putting pressure into the water system.

There is still oil pumping into the water system, but I’m driving it anyway. Just have to stop once in a while and put more water in it. ;-)

Anyway, gotta do more work.

The WZ

It’s been a very, very busy month. Haven’t kept up around here in a while. Work has gone into double overtime, and my Wicked Zuk project has been eating up the rest of my time.

So, I took the WZ to the con a few weeks ago. The engine blew up. Come to find out, it was junk from the beginning. The block is a defect from VW, and it has cracks all over it. There are other problems with it too. I totally got ripped off on it.

Anyway, long story short, LD on Reno4×4.com gave me a new engine so I can get things going. I’ve had the engine out like four times already. Always some small issue. New rear seal, new clutch, reseal the pan, twice, timing a whole bunch of times.

I finally have it back in the rig, and I was going to try starting it tonight, but I’m still at work. So, didn’t get a chance today. Maybe tomorrow. I sure hope it runs this time. I’m tired of pulling it out. If it runs, that’s great. But I still need to buy a new 90° hydro hose adapter that I broke pulling the pump off so many times. ARG!

Well, here’s a pic from when we got it running the first time…
